The project
Designed primarily for children aged three to six, the brief brought together an area for physical activity and a space for free play. The aim was to accommodate different interests and levels of energy, with opportunities to move, invent stories, read and draw.
Our work combined the design of the temporary environment with bespoke multifunctional furniture. Each element was considered from a child’s perspective, encouraging discovery and allowing the space to support different activities throughout the day.
The design approach
A multifunctional furniture piece sits at the heart of the proposal. It can become a puppet theatre, a small library or a storage chest for costumes and props, inviting children to transform their surroundings through play.
Bright colours and geometric forms give the environment a lively character. The movement area encourages physical exploration, while a quieter setting provides space for reading and drawing, including activities suited to older children.
The design process paid particular attention to materials, finishes and production details, recognising the care required when creating furniture and environments for young users.
The play experience
The space gives children the freedom to choose how they spend their time. They can create a performance, dress up, share a story or take part in active play, moving between individual exploration and group activities.
By bringing several uses into a flexible environment, Barça Kids encourages imagination and interaction while making practical use of the available space. The result is a setting designed around curiosity, creativity and the enjoyment of playing together.
