Business Aviation Terminal entrance and reception concept at Alat International Airport

Terminal master planning for the upcoming Business Aviation Terminal at Alat International Airport, for Silk Way Group.
Indy Blue Studio’s master planning work establishes the spatial foundation for a dedicated business aviation terminal, bringing together passenger hospitality, operational requirements and the organisation of the terminal environment.

The project

A business aviation terminal must accommodate a range of needs within a coherent plan. Passenger journeys, staff movement and service activities all influence how the building is organised and how its spaces connect.

For Silk Way Group’s upcoming terminal at Alat International Airport, our work focuses on this overall spatial framework. The master planning approach considers the terminal as a complete environment, establishing relationships between functions before individual spaces are developed in detail.

The planning approach

The starting point is the journey through the terminal. Arrival, reception, formalities, waiting and onward movement to the aircraft need to form a clear sequence, supported by the operational spaces and circulation behind them.

Privacy, accessibility and ease of orientation are central considerations. The relationship between guest areas and support functions is equally important, allowing hospitality and service to work together throughout the terminal.

The plan also considers how different passenger needs can be accommodated, balancing opportunities for work, conversation and rest with the practical requirements of movement and service.

The passenger experience

In business aviation, the terminal is an important part of the travel experience. Its organisation can help guests feel welcomed, understand where to go and move comfortably through each stage of their journey.

The master planning project provides a foundation for that experience, connecting the quality of the guest environment with the functions that support it. It establishes a direction for the terminal’s subsequent design development as the project progresses.
